The Wizard of Oz is still incredibly popular these days.
So much so, that there are a number of organized festivals in Oz-friendly towns across America each year.
Some of them…
October Wizard of Oz Festivals
I think these are timed more or less to coincide with October’s Halloween festivities each year:
Oct: Beech Mountain, NC
Wizard of Oz Park is no longer in regular operation, it has become the site of a Wizard of Oz party each year. There are always special guests from the original movie who show up just for the occasion.
Oct: Liberal, Kansas
Each year, there’s a celebration of Oz at Dorothy’s House. Upwards of 20,000 people attend this event each year, including several cast members from the movie.
Oct: Wamego, Kansas
There’s a Wizard of Oz museum and they also put on an Oz festival featuring Munchkins, authors, and other special guests. Highlights of the festival include the local community theater’s production of The Wizard of Oz and admission to the museum.
Other Festivals For Wizard Of Oz Fans
If you’re an Oz fan, then you’ll want to also know about these festivals (…so you can plan for next year):
June: Chittenango, New York

As a lifelong traveler, I like to help people find unique ways to do things that will save time & money — so I write about “outside the box” Travel Hacks that most wouldn’t think of.
I’m SUPER organized and I love to pack! I’ve lived in 6 different states (Florida, Indiana, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas) and have visited every other state in the U.S. — except Hawaii. (Can you say bucket list?) I’ve been on several different cruises, airplanes, and boats in my life and I currently enjoy the outdoors by bicycling, motorcycling, Jeeping, RVing, camping, or just walking my dogs.
My favorite “hobby” is riding on the back of our Harley-Davidson Road Glide traveling cross country — which we usually do at least once each year. We even rode from Tennessee to Alaska once!
