A Mom’s Tips River Tubing With Kids (River Rat Tubing Townsend TN: What To Expect)

A Mom’s Tips For River Tubing With Kids In Townsend, Tennessee

I’ve got LOTS of helpful tips for your first time river tubing with kids — either at Smoky Mountain River Rat (where this video was shot) or anywhere else!

I live 45 minutes away from Smoky Mountain River Rat in Townsend TN. This video will give you a good idea of what it’s like, and what you can expect when tubing with your child there — or ANYWHERE really.

I bought season tickets for River Rat — because I knew we’d be cooling down here a lot this summer with our 2-year-old (and our dog).

We had a blast our very first time, and we have enjoyed tubing with River Rat several times since then.

I hope you enjoy my tips for river tubing with kids!

Hello, my name is Candida Jagger with The Fun Times Guide. We are REAL people. With REAL experiences and REAL helpful ideas.

If you ever find yourself at the Great Smoky Mountain area in the peak season, you will discover that it’s hot and sticky here in the summer. And if you’re looking for a great way to cool down and spend the day passively floating downstream a scenic river… then Smoky Mountain River Rat is a good option for you — especially if you have small children over 2 years of age!

We decided to have a family staycation right here in East Tennessee where we live and take part in some of the tourist attractions. Today’s adventure is taking us to Townsend, TN to see one of the outdoor outfitters called Smoky Mountain River Rat. There are 11 of us in our group today — ages 2 and up.

Okay, I’m gonna show you some helpful tips to get you started going down River Rat. Minimalism is key. So you’ll want to get into your swimwear right from the car. You’ll want to make sure everyone has appropriate sunscreen. I have a dry bag for a few key items — I put them all in ziploc baggies. Keys to the car, water bottle with some ice, a couple diaper wipes because I’m traveling with a 2-year-old, an extra swim diaper just in case, my Go Pro, and one baggie for my phone camera. And that’s really all I’m gonna take. Plus our tether strap and our push stick. Alright, we’re heading out!
